Ingredients

  • 200g golden syrup
  • Zest and juice of 1 lemon
  • 100g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. In a bowl, mix together the golden syrup, lemon zest, lemon juice, and breadcrumbs until well combined.

  3. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and line a 9-inch tart tin.

  4. Pour the syrup mixture into the pastry case and spread evenly.

  5. Brush the edges of the pastry with beaten egg.

  6. Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is set.

  7. Allow the tart to cool before slicing and serving.
