Ingredients

  • 1 ready-made pie crust
  • 4 oranges
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a tart pan and set aside.

  2. Zest 2 oranges and set aside.

  3. In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Be careful not to burn it.

  4. Pour the caramel into the tart pan, spreading it evenly on the bottom.

  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and orange zest until well combined.

  6. Juice the 4 oranges and strain the juice. Add the orange juice to the egg mixture and stir well.

  7. Pour the custard mixture into the tart pan over the caramel.

  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the custard is set and slightly golden on top.

  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely before serving.

  10. Serve the tart chilled and garnish with orange slices, if desired.
