Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 9-inch pie crust
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Whipped cream, for serving
- Ground nutmeg, for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch tart pan and trim off any excess. Prick the bottom with a fork.
-
In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and cornstarch. Add the eggs and whisk until well combined.
-
Gradually pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until thickened.
-
Remove the custard from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and ground nutmeg. Pour the custard into the prepared crust.
-
Bake the tart for 25-30 minutes, or until the custard is set and the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
-
Serve the tart with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground nutmeg on top.
