Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of ready-to-roll puff pastry
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Ground nutmeg, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out the puff pastry and line four individual tart pans with it.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until well combined and creamy.

  3. In a small saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the custard mixture into the prepared tart pans.

  5. Sprinkle the tops of the tarts with a pinch of ground nutmeg. Place the tart pans on a baking sheet.

  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set and the pastry is golden brown.

  7. Remove from the oven and allow the tarts to cool completely before serving.
