  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and then add them to the sugar mixture. Stir until well combined.

  4. Gradually pour in the melted butter and vanilla extract, stirring continuously.

  5. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the center is set and the top is slightly cracked.

  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.

  8. Serve slices of chocolate chess pie with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
