  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup of rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

  2. Wash the apples, then core and slice them into thin rings. Place the apple rings in the greased baking dish.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apple slices.

  4. In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, melted butter, and chopped walnuts (if using). Stir until the mixture is crumbly.

  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples in the baking dish.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.

  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
