  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Additional granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.

  6. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll them in the additional granulated sugar.

  7. Place the cookies on a baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
