How To Make Freezer Biscuits

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Add the cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut it into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the dough comes together.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and lightly knead it a few times to bring it together.

  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a drinking glass.

  6. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for about 1 hour until firm.

  7. Once frozen, transfer the biscuits to an airtight container or freezer bag to store.

  8. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

  9. Arrange the frozen biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  10. Serve warm with butter or your favorite toppings.
