How To Make Green Tea and Azuki Bean Bundt Cake

If you like matcha, you will enjoy this flavorful bundt cake made with green tea-flavored batter and the sweet flavor of azuki beans.

Cool Time: 20 minutes
Total: 1 hour 45 minutes



  • 2cupswhite sugar
  • 1cupbutter,softened
  • 1cupmilk
  • ½cupvegetable oil
  • 5eggs
  • 3cupsall purpose flour,sifted
  • 1tbspmatcha green tea powder,plus more for dusting
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspsalt
  • 18ozazuki beans,(1 can) drained
  • 1tspconfectioners’ sugar,or to taste


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease a 12-cup fluted tube pan (such as Bundt®).

  2. Beat white sugar, butter, milk, and vegetable oil together in a bowl using an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

  3. Beat eggs, 1 at a time, into creamed butter mixture, beating well before adding the next egg.

  4. Whisk flour, green tea powder, baking powder, and salt together in a separate bowl; slowly mix into creamed butter mixture until batter is smooth.

  5. Fold azuki beans into the batter, then pour into the prepared tube pan.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 10 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Cool cake.

  7. Invert cake onto a serving plate and dust with green tea powder and confectioners’ sugar.
