How To Make Grapefruit & Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients
- 1 large grapefruit
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp poppy seeds
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

Zest the grapefruit and then juice it. Set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the grapefruit juice and zest.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Stir in the poppy seeds.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
