  • 1 cup gluten-free flour mix
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup almond milk, unsweetened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 6-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and granulated sugar.

  3. Add the applesauce, vegetable oil, almond milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  4. Gradually pour in the hot water and stir until the batter is smooth.

  5. Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Once cooled, frost or decorate the cake as desired.
