How To Make Date Cake

Ingredients
- 1 cup of pitted dates
- 1 cup of boiling water
- 1 tsp of baking soda
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a small bowl, combine the pitted dates and boiling water. Let them sit for 5 minutes.

Stir in the baking soda into the date mixture. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt.

Add the date mixture to the flour mixture and mix until well combined.

If desired, fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
