How To Make Indian Tofu Jalfrezi Recipe

A tangy and spicy stir-fry dish made with tofu and colorful bell peppers in a flavorful tomato-based sauce.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu, drained and cut into cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp of fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp of cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp of red chili powder
  • 1 tsp of garam masala powder
  • 1 cup of crushed tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add sliced onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.

  2. Add the sliced bell peppers and fry for 5 minutes until they start to soften.

  3. Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well and fry for 2 minutes.

  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, and cubed tofu. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.

  5. Serve hot garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
