A classic Indian dish with tender marinated chicken in a creamy tomato-based sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tbsp of freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp of ground coriander
  • 1 tbsp of cumin
  • 1 tbsp of turmeric
  • 1 tbsp of paprika
  • 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together the chicken with the ginger, garlic powder, coriander, cumin, turmeric, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and yogurt. Marinate for at least an hour in the fridge.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil and cook the onion until softened.

  3. Add the tomato paste and cook for a minute. Then add in the chopped tomatoes and let it simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Add in the marinated chicken and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through.

  5. Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.

  6. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with rice.
