How To Make Hot Dog on a Stick’s Soft Pretzel Recipe
Soft and chewy pretzels that are perfect for snacking or as a side to your hot dog on a stick.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- 10 cups water
- 2/3 cup baking soda
- Coarse salt, for sprinkling
- Mustard or cheese sauce, for dipping
Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and salt. Sprinkle package of yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes.

Add in flour and melted butter. Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place dough in a large bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 425°F.

In a large pot, combine 10 cups of water and baking soda. Bring to a rolling boil.

Divide dough into 8 equal parts.

Roll each part into a 2-foot long rope, twist into pretzel shape and dip in the boiling water with a slotted spoon for 30 seconds.

Remove from water with slotted spoon and place pretzels onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sprinkle with coarse salt and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.

Serve with mustard or cheese sauce for dipping.
