How To Make Aunt Susie’s Apple Pie
A classic, homemade apple pie with a flaky crust and sweet, cinnamon-spiced filling.

Ingredients
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 4 cups thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 egg white, beaten
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Roll out pie crust and place in 9-inch pie dish.

In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice.

In a separate bowl, mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples and toss to coat.

Pour apple mixture into pie crust and dot with butter.

Roll out remaining pie crust and use a knife or cookie cutter to cut out strips for a lattice crust (optional).

Arrange crust on top of pie and trim edges.

Brush crust with beaten egg white.

Bake for 45-50 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling.

Let cool before slicing and serving.
