How To Make Giant Cinnamon Bun

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together. Roll the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough.

  7. If desired, sprinkle raisins and chopped nuts on top of the cinnamon sugar mixture.

  8. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Slice the log into 4 equal pieces.

  9. Place the sliced cinnamon buns into a greased round baking dish. Make sure the buns are touching each other.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  11. While the cinnamon buns are baking, prepare the glaze. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth and drizzleable.

  12. Once the cinnamon buns are done baking, remove them from the oven and drizzle the glaze over the top.

  13. Serve the giant cinnamon bun warm and enjoy!
