A crispy, flavorful Indian appetizer filled with spiced potatoes and peas.

Preparation: 30 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 50 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Gradually add water and knead the dough until it becomes smooth. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let it splutter. Then add ginger garlic paste and sauté for a minute.

  3. Add mashed potatoes, frozen peas, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix everything well and cook for 5-7 minutes.

  4. Roll out the dough into thin circles. Cut out each circle in half, creating two semi-circles.

  5. Form each semi-circle into a cone and fill it with the spiced potato filling. Seal the edges with water.

  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry the samosas until they turn golden brown.

  7. Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
