Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the potatoes. Using a sharp knife or a mandoline slicer, thinly slice the potatoes into uniform pieces.

  2. Place the sliced potatoes in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to about 350°F (175°C).

  4. Drain the sliced potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  5. Carefully drop a handful of potato slices into the hot oil and fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the chips from the oil using a slotted spoon or tongs and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  7. Sprinkle salt over the freshly fried chips while they are still hot.

  8. Repeat the frying process with the remaining potato slices until all the chips are cooked.

  9. Allow the chips to cool completely before serving.
