Ingredients

  • 2 large carrots, grated
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp nigella seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 cup chickpea flour
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for greasing
  • for the raita:
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated
  • 1/4 cup mint leaves, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine grated carrots, chopped onion, green chilies, cilantro, nigella seeds, turmeric powder, cumin powder, chickpea flour, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Grease a baking tray with oil. Take spoonfuls of the carrot mixture and shape them into small patties. Place them on the greased tray.

  4. Bake the bhajis in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.

  5. While the bhajis are baking, prepare the raita by combining yogurt, grated cucumber, chopped mint leaves, cumin powder, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.

  6. Once the bhajis are ready, serve them hot with the refreshing raita.
