How To Make Whole Grain Cornbread Recipe

A hearty and flavorful twist on traditional cornbread, made with whole grain flour.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole grain flour
  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.

  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  5. Pour batter into a greased 8-inch square baking pan and smooth the top.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Let cool for a few minutes in the pan before slicing and serving.
