Ingredients

  • 1 cup root beer
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the root beer, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the flavors blend together.

  4. Remove from heat and let cool. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.

  5. Use immediately as a BBQ sauce or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
