  • 2 pounds of potatoes, peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water.
  2. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes until they are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the potatoes in a colander and return them to the pot.
  4. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper to the pot.
  5. Use a potato masher to mash the potatoes until they are creamy and smooth.
