How To Make Sourdough and Sausage Dressing Recipe

This hearty stuffing made with sourdough bread and sausage is perfect for any holiday feast.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sourdough bread, cubed
  • 1/2 lb sausage, casings removed
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, breaking it into smaller pieces. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add onion, garlic, and celery and cook until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

  4. Add butter to skillet and cook until melted, stirring occasionally.

  5. In a large bowl, combine bread cubes, sausage mixture, parsley, salt, and pepper.

  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together chicken broth and egg.

  7. Pour broth mixture over bread mixture and toss until bread is coated.

  8. Transfer mixture to a baking dish and cover with foil.

  9. Bake for 30 minutes.

  10. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
