Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, trimmed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, black pepper, and salt.

  2. Rub the spice mix over the pork shoulder and place it in a slow cooker.

  3. Pour BBQ sauce and chicken broth over the pork shoulder.

  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and falls apart.

  5. Once the pork is cooked, transfer it to a cutting board. Using two forks, pull apart the pork into small pieces.

  6. Put the pulled pork back into the slow cooker and mix with the sauce.

  7. Serve hot on buns or with a side of coleslaw.
