How To Make Mashed Turnip Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 large turnips, peeled and chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Place chopped turnips in a large pot and cover with water. Add 1 tsp salt to the water.

  2. Bring the water to a boil and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until turnips are fork-tender.

  3. Drain the turnips and add them back to the pot.

  4. Add butter, garlic, and thyme to the turnips. Mash well with a potato masher or fork.

  5. Add heavy cream and stir until well combined.

  6. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Serve hot.
