How To Make Lentil Ham Soup Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup dried lentils
- 1 ham bone or 2 cups diced ham
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Rinse the lentils and pick out any debris. Set aside.

In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the diced ham or ham bone and cook until browned.

Add the diced onion, carrots, celery, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are softened.

Add the rinsed lentils, chicken broth, water, bay leaf, dried thyme, and salt and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 1 hour, or until the lentils are tender.

Remove the ham bone if using, and discard. If using diced ham, leave it in the soup.
