Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chili powder
  • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions until golden brown.

  2. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies. Cook for another minute.

  3. Add turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix well.

  4. Stir in the tamarind pulp and coconut milk. Bring it to a boil.

  5. Add the prawns and simmer for 10-15 minutes, until they are cooked through.

  6. Season with salt and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

  7. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
