Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 250g prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • Sweet chili sauce or plum sauce for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, pulse prawns, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, cornstarch, and salt until combined but still slightly chunky.

  2. Spread the prawn mixture evenly on each slice of bread.

  3. Cut each slice into quarters or halves for bite-sized pieces.

  4. Dip each prawn toast into the beaten egg, then press the egg-coated side onto the sesame seeds to coat.

  5. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.

  6. Fry prawn toasts, seed-side down, for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Flip and fry the other side for another 2-3 minutes.

  7. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  8. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or plum sauce, if desired.
