How To Make Seared Ahi Tuna Steak

Impress your dinner guests with our sophisticated tuna steak recipe! It comes with flavorful mango salsa and spicy, wasabi-avocado cream.

Ingredients

For Ahi Tuna Steaks:

  • 2ahi tuna steaks
  • 1cupsoy sauce
  • 2tspchilli flakes
  • vegetable oil

For Mango Salsa:

  • 1mango
  • ½red bell pepper
  • ½onion
  • 1green onionchopped
  • 1fresh cilantrohandful, chopped
  • 1jalapeno pepperseeded and minced
  • 2tbsplime juice
  • 1 ½tspolive oil
  • saltto taste

For Wasabi-Avocado Cream:

  • 1avocadolarge
  • 1tspwasabi
  • ½limejuiced
  • 2tbspsour cream
  • 1tspsesame oil

Instructions

Ahi Tuna Steaks:

  1. In a bowl, add the ahi tuna steaks, then cover with soy sauce, and chili flakes.

  2. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour.

Mango Salsa:

  1. Dice the mango, bell pepper, and onion.

  2. Combine them all in a bowl then mix well. Salt to taste.

  3. Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour at the same time as the tuna steaks.

Wasabi-Avocado Cream:

  1. Blend the avocado, wasabi, lime, sour cream, and sesame oil in a food processor until smooth. Alternatively, mash with a fork.

Cooking Tuna Steaks:

  1. Take tuna out of the marinade then pat dry with paper towels.

  2. Spray the marinated tuna steaks with vegetable oil.

  3. Heat a cast-iron pan and sear tuna steaks for 2 minutes per side for medium or 4 minutes per side for well-done.

  4. Spoon wasabi-avocado cream and mango salsa on the plate then lay the tuna steak on top.

  5. Serve, and enjoy!
