Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Pour the sauce over the ground beef and vegetables in the skillet. Stir to combine.

  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the neat Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
