How To Make Southern Fried Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small head cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.

  2. Add the sliced cabbage and diced onion to the skillet with the bacon grease. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage and onion are tender and slightly caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle the garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper over the cabbage mixture. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the cooked bacon. Serve hot.
