How To Make Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Ingredients
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and celery, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in the milk, and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, drained tuna, frozen peas, and the prepared cheese sauce. Gently stir until well combined.

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly, and the breadcrumbs are golden brown.
