How To Make Southern Grits Casserole

Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Stir in the grits and reduce heat to low. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes or until the grits are thickened.

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, butter, salt, and black pepper until melted and well combined.

In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs and milk. Gradually add the egg mixture to the grits, stirring constantly.

Pour the grits mixture into a greased casserole dish and sprinkle the chopped green onions on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the casserole is set and lightly browned on top.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
