How To Make Smoked Mackerel & Potato Bake

Ingredients
- 4 smoked mackerel fillets
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill for garnish
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, onions, and garlic.

Flake the smoked mackerel fillets on top of the potatoes.

Season with salt and pepper.

Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onions, and garlic.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux.

Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth. Cook until thickened.

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted.

Pour the cheese sauce over the layered potatoes and mackerel.

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh dill.
