Ingredients

  • 1 celeriac, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar or Gruyere)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the celeriac, potatoes, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.

  3. Layer half of the vegetable mixture in the prepared baking dish. Top with half of the grated cheese.

  4. Repeat with the remaining vegetable mixture and cheese.

  5. Pour the heavy cream over the top, making sure to cover all the vegetables.

  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  8. Allow the gratin to cool for a few minutes before serving.
