Cooking: 8 hours
Total: 8 hours and 20 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs pork shoulder or butt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 225°F.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to make a rub for the pork.

  3. Generously coat the pork shoulder with the rub, massaging it into the meat to ensure even coverage.

  4. Place the pork shoulder on the smoker grate and let it smoke for 8 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F.

  5. In a spray bottle, mix together the apple cider vinegar and apple juice. Spray the pork shoulder every hour to keep it moist.

  6. Once the pork shoulder reaches 195°F, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for 15 minutes.

  7. Use two forks to shred the pork into pulled pork.

  8. In a large bowl, mix the shredded pork with the BBQ sauce until well coated.

  9. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns and enjoy!
