How To Make Sweet Pulled Pork Barbacoa
A serving of pulled pork at the picnic table can make your barbecue party a whole lot livelier! It’s smoky, meaty, and saucy—in other words, it has all the trappings of a delicious smoked dish. But, did you know that you can enjoy this delicacy without having to fire up your grill? Check out these pulled pork recipes and discover how to make it with all kinds of indoor kitchen appliances. You can toy around with different flavor combos for the sauces, too!
In a slow cooker, combine the beef broth, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, tomato paste, chipotle peppers, olive oil, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
Add the pork shoulder to the slow cooker, and spoon the sauce over the pork to coat it evenly.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
Let the pork cook in the sauce for an additional 30 minutes to soak up the flavors.
Serve the sweet pulled pork barbacoa on burger buns, tortillas, or over rice. Add your favorite toppings such as pickled onions, avocado, or cilantro.
