How To Make Vegan Jerky

Ingredients
- 1 cup of soy sauce
- 2 tbsp of liquid smoke
- 1 tbsp of maple syrup
- 1 tsp of paprika
- 1/2 tsp of garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp of onion powder
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 3 cups of thinly sliced tofu or tempeh
Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, liquid smoke, maple syrup, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Add thinly sliced tofu or tempeh to the marinade mixture and toss until all pieces are coated. Let it marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).

Place the marinated tofu or tempeh slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they are evenly spaced and not overlapping.

Bake in the preheated oven for 4 hours, flipping the slices halfway through, until they are dry and chewy.

Remove from the oven and let the vegan jerky cool completely before enjoying. It will become firmer as it cools.
