Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Sparkling sugar, for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once the cake is cooled, dust it with powdered sugar for a snow-like effect.

  10. Sprinkle sparkling sugar over the top of the cake to create a shimmering snow sparkle.

  11. Slice and serve the cake, enjoying the winter magic!
