  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Assorted colored sprinkles
  • Royal icing (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.

  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.

  7. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out cookies and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  8. Use a smaller round cookie cutter to cut out the center of each cookie, creating a “window” for the snow globe.

  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden around the edges.

  10. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.

  11. Once cooled, decorate the center of each cookie with colored sprinkles to resemble snow globes.

  12. Use royal icing to pipe decorative designs around the edges of the cookies, creating the look of snow globes.

  13. Allow the icing to dry completely before serving.
