How To Make Curried Potato Pasties

Ingredients
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon curry powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 package of ready-made shortcrust pastry
Instructions

In a saucepan, boil the diced potatoes until tender. Drain and set aside.

Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, and sauté until they turn translucent.

Add the curry powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, chili powder, and salt. Stir well to combine.

Add the boiled potatoes to the pan and mix until the potatoes are coated with the curry mixture. Cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).

Roll out the ready-made shortcrust pastry on a floured surface. Cut circles about 10cm (4 inches) in diameter.

Place a spoonful of the potato mixture onto one half of each pastry circle. Fold the pastry over to form a half-moon shape. Use a fork to press the edges together and seal the pasties.

Place the pasties on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with a beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the pasties turn golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
