How To Make Aloo Chole

Ingredients

  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup cooked chickpeas
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1 green chili, slit
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.

  2. Once the seeds start to splutter, add onions and cook until golden brown.

  3. Add ginger, garlic, and green chili. Saute for a minute.

  4. Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.

  5. Add diced potatoes and chickpeas. Mix well to coat them with the masala.

  6. Add water, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked through.

  7. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with coriander leaves.

  8. Serve hot with naan or rice.
