Total: 27 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 16 pretzel sticks
  • 8 large candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter, egg, and vanilla extract until creamy.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

  8. While the cookies are still warm, press two chocolate chips into each cookie to make spider bodies.

  9. Break each pretzel stick in half and press four pieces into each side of the cookie to make spider legs.

  10. Place a candy eye in the center of each chocolate chip.

  11. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
