  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 8 thin and long pretzel sticks
  • 8 small edible candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

  4. Stir in the boiling water, this will make the batter thin.

  5. Fill each cupcake liner with the batter, about 2/3 full.

  7. Remove the cupcakes from the oven and let them cool completely.

  8. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or using a double boiler.

  9. Dip the pretzel sticks into the melted chocolate, making sure to cover them completely.

  10. Place the chocolate-dipped pretzel sticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them cool in the fridge until the chocolate hardens.

  11. Once the cupcakes are cooled, place two pretzel sticks on each side of the cupcake to resemble spider legs.

  12. Place two candy eyes on the top of each cupcake.

  13. Serve and enjoy these spooky spider cakes!
