How To Make Maryland Chicken Recipe

A delicious and flavorful chicken dish with a crispy coating and tender meat, inspired by the traditional flavors of Maryland.

Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 25 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken breasts in a bowl and pour buttermilk on top. Let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.

  2. In a shallow dish, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Remove the chicken breasts from the buttermilk, allowing any excess liquid to drain off.

  5. Dredge the chicken breasts in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.

  6. Carefully place the coated chicken breasts into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. Once cooked, transfer the chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  8. Serve the Maryland chicken hot with your favorite sides.
