How To Make Halloween Cupcakes

These spooky Halloween cupcakes are perfect for your Halloween party. They are deliciously moist and topped with a creepy spiderweb icing.

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Black food coloring
  • Candy spiders for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a muffin tray with cupcake liners.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing just until combined.

  5. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about ⅔ full. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely on a wire rack.

  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Add a few drops of black food coloring and mix until the desired color is achieved. Transfer the icing to a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.

  7. Pipe a spiral of icing onto each cupcake, starting from the center and working outward. Use a toothpick or skewer to drag through the icing from the center to the edges, creating a spiderweb pattern. Place a candy spider in the center of each cupcake.

  8. Serve the Halloween cupcakes at your spooky Halloween party!
