How To Make Gunpowder Chicken with Dried Red Chillies & Peanuts

A spicy and flavorful dish with tender chicken, fiery dried red chillies, and crunchy peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 dried red chillies, deseeded and sliced
  • 1/4 cup peanuts
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 thumb-sized ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Set aside for 10 minutes.

  2. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add dried red chillies and peanuts, stir-frying until fragrant and the peanuts are golden brown. Remove and set aside.

  3. In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and green onions. Stir-fry until fragrant.

  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook until it turns golden brown and cooked through.

  5. Add the fried dried red chillies and peanuts back to the pan. Toss well to coat everything evenly.

  6. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
