How To Make Chive and Parmesan Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup cold milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add Parmesan cheese and chives to the flour mixture and whisk.

  4. Add butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  5. In a small bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Add to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.

  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times to bring the dough together.

  7. Pat the dough into a 6-inch circle and cut into 8 wedges.

  8. Transfer scones to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  9. Brush the tops of the scones with milk.

  10. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
