How To Make Chinese Braised Red Cabbage
A flavorful and tender dish with a hint of sweetness and mild spiciness.

Ingredients
- 1 small red cabbage, sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
- Salt, to taste
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch, mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Green onions, chopped for garnish
Instructions

Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant.

Add sliced red cabbage and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, chili flakes, and salt. Pour the sauce over the cabbage and stir to combine.

Add water to the pan and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 20 minutes or until the cabbage is tender.

Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for an additional 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot.
